First Production Kits: Off the Line and On Stage

The last few months have been about one thing: getting the first full Dialtune kits off the factory floor and into real drummers’ hands.

We just got back from visiting our manufacturing partner to see and test the very first production Dialtune kits.

On this trip we:

  • Watched raw aluminum poured into molds for our hoops.
  • Held still-warm hoops coming off the press.
  • Walked the machine shop where all the threading and precision milling happens.
  • Saw the raw metal go through polishing and chrome plating into the finished parts you’ll see on your kit.

The goal was simple: test the initial run of parts, find any issues, and fix them before full-scale production.

^Above is a hoop right out of the mold. The center structure is for support, to make sure hoops don't get warped during manufacturing! It then gets machined, polished, then chrome plated.

The good news:

“The first parts off the line were basically flawless. The very first kit we assembled functioned smoothly and sounded like a dream. I ended up locking myself in a room and jamming on it for a while just for the fun of it.” – Bryan Bedson, Inventor & Founder of Dialtune

The second kit we built went straight to Music China in Shanghai, where it survived four days of hard playing from drummers from all over the world and ended up being a standout at the show.

Pre-Order #1: Where Things Stand

If you were part of our first limited kit pre-order, thank you. You helped make this product real. Here’s where we are right now:

  • Batch #1 kits are on track to ship in January.
  • We expect finished shells and parts for those kits to arrive at our warehouse right after the holidays.
  • From there, we’ll assemble and ship kits in the order pre-orders were received.

We’ll keep sending more detailed updates as kits move through the warehouse and onto trucks.

Pre-Order #2: Small Batch, April Ship

With the first batch locked in, we’re ready to open Pre-Order #2. A few important details:

  • There will be fewer than 75 kits available in this second run.
  • Pre-orders from this batch are expected to ship in April.
  • As before, we’re sizing the run to what we can realistically deliver as a small, founder-led startup.

If you’ve been waiting for a full kit to go with your Dialtune snare, this is your shot. Once we sell through the 75 kits, we’ll turn our focus to building and shipping them.

Looking Ahead: Batch #3

If all goes to plan:

  • Pre-Order #2 kits ship in April.
  • Our third batch of drums should be ready to ship in July.

The goal here isn’t endless “limited drops.” It’s to use these early, smaller runs to scale Dialtune the right way for the long haul — with reliable timelines and honest communication.

Thanks for all the patience, questions, and enthusiasm so far. If you were early enough to snag a kit in these first runs, you’ll be among the very first people in the world to play, let alone own, a complete Dialtune drum kit.
