One of the most common questions we get about our new Dialtune drum set is: How are the rack toms mounted?
Both the 8x10" and 9x12" rack toms ship with a 1/2" (12.7mm) universal tom mount, which makes them incredibly versatile. This size is a standard across the industry and works with most popular L-rod post stands, including those made by Ludwig, DW, and Gibraltar. That means you can easily integrate our toms into your existing hardware setup without having to hunt for special parts. In addition, each tom has two options for mounting points, so you can move the bracket to either side depending on which way you’d like the dials to face.
Secure and Thoughtful Design
The mount is fixed to the shell with two screws and a spacer, ensuring a strong connection without choking the drum’s natural resonance. The result is a clean, punchy tone that isn’t compromised by the mounting hardware.
For drummers who prefer a minimalist look—or for those who want to try different mounting approaches—we’ve made the mount fully removable. Simply take it off and replace it with a Dialtune badge plate that covers the holes, giving you a sleek, unbroken shell finish.
Options for Every Setup
We’ve designed this system to be flexible depending on your playing style:
-
Mounted on L-bracket arms: Our kits ship with the rack toms ready to sit comfortably on L-bracket arms, a familiar setup for most drummers.
-
On a snare stand: If you prefer your rack toms mounted lower or positioned independently from your bass drum hardware, both toms can also be placed on standard snare stands.
See It in Action
With the release of our 4-piece kit, we’ve captured photos and videos of the rack toms in both traditional mounted setups and snare-stand configurations. You can check them out to see just how adaptable these mounts are in practice—and to get inspiration for your own setup.
