I bought this snare over a year ago and love how good it looks, sounds and tunes. It is a heavy drum, but will give you tone a versatility unmatched by any other snare. I believe in this snare and every product dialtune makes. 5 stars!

First...this is the most money I ever spent on a snare ($35 per pound! 😂). So, I was hesitant, and wary. Unnecessarily so. Right out of the box, this thing performs way above its weight class. Totally happy with my purchase, and completely recommend! Oh, to top it all off...the Seafoam is just beautiful!

Been playing the maple burst snare for about 3 weeks and IT IS the game changer that all the reviews claim! Went from high crack for pop tune to the lowest tuning for a country ballad in the time between songs, live on stage, then back to the high tuning. The band thought I was triggering the ballad snare sound! I’m still using the original head and it sounds great. Only maintenance issue so far is had to tighten the set screw on the dial for the top head.

As much as this technology is new, & some may feel novel, it flat out works. It gives you so much more time/opportunity to try out different tunings, heads, etc… That aside it’s also just a great sounding drum. It has replaced 3 of my other 14” maple snares!

I’ve had it 2 months now & gigged w/ it multiple times. Each time I’ve been approached w/ the question “what is that snare drum?”

Next up, I think their nickel over brass may be replacing my custom Malasko of the same size & finish.

Great sounding snare! Very affordable as it replaces 6 of my other snares easily. The only pet peavey I have is the hoops will not accept drum mic clips! Please develop something

so I have played on soo many snare drums from Mapex to DW
and I have found that its difficult to get the right tuning in a short period of time

after receiving my Dialtune Snare drum out of the box I have noticed how solid it is it weight about 12Kgs but that cause of all the Hardware and makes sense as the hardware that's used is super durable and high quality

once i tuned it up in a few seconds yes seconds

the quality of tone was amazing it doesn't matter low, medium, high or ultra high tuning its plays and sounds like a dream

this is still with stock heads on them
i have tried the Aquarian high velocity black snare head and it sounded a bit darker perfect for the rock and metal guys

but then i tried the Evans UV1 and OH My Days the snare opened up soo well i could not believe how versatile my snare was

i highly recommend this Snare Drum you can not go wrong with it

i wish i had another snare to use as my Aux Snare but wow wow wow so amazing

one more thing i have tuned this head super high and the Rope doest fail it just shows every single part of the snare has gone through a proper thought process for us as drummers to have a product that will never fail

This drum is fun to play and experiment with. I know some think it is a gimmick, but you start messing with tunings and tensions you probably wouldn't do otherwise. You can easily experiment in ways that you could transfer to more "traditional" drums.

First, The Seafoam Blue is Gorgeous ! Second, The quality and finish is like the best, DW, Pearl, Tama and I'm talking Hi End Kits. And Third is the Best, What they've designed and engineered here is no gimmick ! It simply Works Great.

It’s everything you want in a snare. Solid, easy to tune, fast head changing, switch from high to low in the middle of a show. Love it!

I'm usually not a big review writer, but I'm a huge review reader, if that makes sense....But I feel compelled to sit and write one on this drum.
I have a 1st Generation (Maker's Series) Maple. I was skeptical at first, but it didn't take long to see (hear) the absolute versatility of this drum technology. While it does weigh in at a hefty 20 pounds, it IS WORTH ITS WEIGHT in gold, so to speak! The ease of changing heads gives you the ever so precious time saving opportunity to experiment with different head sounds, not to mention the ever so precious time saving opportunity of TUNING SO DANG QUICKLY! I'm a weekend warrior and gig at different venues and as you well know, each venue has different sound/acoustic characteristics and this drum gives you the ever so precious time saving opportunity of tuning to the room... I've even changed out a cable (not due to need, only to see how it's done, and I found it's not that difficult, just watch the video first so you know the couple important points). I also got the case they just made for it, which is really nice... The one they recommended prior to this I bought and while it did fit, it was real snug, but the one they have now is really a much, much nicer fitting case (it makes it an easier decision for me to take the Dialtune on a gig if I have the custom fitting case for it)... All in all, I highly recommend this drum! (to be honest, I'm eyeing up an Aluminum)!
If you're on the fence about investing in a Dialtune (They even reduced their prices by $300 from when I bought mine)!!!, listen to your intuition and GET ONE, it's not just a gimmick, Yes the technology is different, but the tradeoff in the "Ever So Precious Time Saving Opportunity" of time, tuning and sound is only found in this drum.

I took a gamble and bought a "factory second" I really wanted one of these drums but was hesitant on the price. I got my factory second and wished I would've just spent the money long ago. This drum is absolutely amazing. I love playing drums but basically just do it as a hobby. I replace my snare head the most and this just makes it simple to do every time! So if you're kicking around if its worth it for the price....bust out the cash and just get it! The factory second is a great option as well! One thing I hope to see in the future is better support from hardware companies for a stand. Or even something dialtune comes out with would be cool too! It fits fine on the snare stand I have I just cant get it as low as I want with it sitting on the edge of the rim.

This is an incredible piece of equipment, looks great, sounds better. I travel with a band that plays several styles of music, and the leader plays in no particularly order. With this drum, I can play a super tight funk setup, and within 5 seconds, have a full loosened sound for a jazz brush groove, and then 5 seconds later, with a simple twist, any other tension I desire. I fully recommend this drum for anyone who plays many different styles, and doesn’t want to take as much time as usual to tighten and loosen.

You can tell these are built to last. Very heavy and sturdy snare. Super easy to set up and easy to tune. I've never seen such an amazing snare. I'd but another if I could.

I've owned this drum for several months now. The first thing you'll notice is the build quality. This drum is solid, built like a tank, superbly engineered and beautiful. It sounds amazing, with a wide tuning range which is so customizable with the 2 large tuning knows. This drum is extremely heavy, which is fine. I finally changed out the stock batter head which is super easy. The one issue is that Aquarian heads are not compatible because of their hoops not fitting. Remo heads work just fine. You'll have to check out others to make sure. From practice to recording to live performance this drum does it all with distinction. The fact that you can change tuning or heads very quickly on the fly gives this drum a major advantage. This drum deserves a spot in any working drummers collection because it delivers the goods for any musical style. Dialtune is an amazing and innovative product that holds a prestigious spot in my collection.

I have been gigging with this snare for a few months. I love the tone and ease of tunning high end to low very quickly. Would recommend to anyone. It is a heavy snare to haul with you but worth it.

I’ve had the dialtune snare drum for a few months now and I can’t stop saying great things about it! It’s a dream to be able to get rid of the painstaking task of tuning by turning each lug a quarter or a half to get a desired pitch. Most drummers just want to be able to play and this drum sounds amazing no matter which pitch you choose.

I also want to give a quick shoutout to Bryan the owner. He was kind enough to give me a quick FaceTime to resolve a minor issue I had with my drum. Talk about great customer service! I haven’t seen any other owner of a company dedicate time to talk to a customer one on one about an issue and come up with a quick solution to solve it. You can tell Bryan is passionate about dialtune drums, and even more passionate about people enjoying the drum.

Now the only thing left is waiting for a full dialtune drum kit to make drummers love this company even more !

I love it! I swapped this snare with my black beauty, the sound engineer didn’t even notice the difference… so easy to tune. Needs dampening rings or gel dampeners but I haven’t put a different head on it. Im still experimenting but it’s been fun to change tuning on the fly.

Whether in the studio or on the stage, this drum delivers everything your ear can dream up!

In the studio, where you can take all the time in the world to get the sound you hear in your head, it’s as versatile a snare as you’ll ever find. With a variety of dampening on hand, there isn’t a ‘sound’ one couldn’t approximate. Furthermore, it made tuning the drum to individual songs stupid easy. Where this beauty truly earned her money though was live.

On stage, this drum went from cranked tight funky ‘kang’ to sloppy wet 80’s pop backbeat in the time it took for our lead singer to intro the next song…over and over again for three hours straight. The best part of the evening though had to be seeing my bandmates necks nearly snap as they whipped around hearing the difference between the snare on ‘Something About You’ and ‘Pour Some Sugar on Me’ in mere seconds without electronics. This drum will change the literal landscape of your ability to express musically. If you have the time and hear the sound in your head, you can find that sound with this drum, usually in seconds.

Extras:
- experiment with lots of different dampening ideas. O rings, weighted, dampers, and gels, all sound very different on this drum. Find your favorites, and bring them with you live to amaze and delight your sound man.
- if you sit low at the drum set, be prepared to cut at least an inch and a half off the telescoping end of your snare stand with a pipe cutter. This drum is worth it.
- yes, this drum is heavy and these rims will make your rim shots sound like a shotgun. I cannot emphasize with polite words how heavy this drum actually is.
- I have not actually changed a head yet but, the procedure seems exceedingly simple and a massive time saver for us live performers.
- I love this drum enough to buy five more! The problem for DialTune is now I don’t have to… I have all the drum sounds I need in a single drum. Get yours now! This is a steal at $599. The price HAS to go up. When word gets out, this will be a hard drum to get your hands on for this price.
*** My only gripe/wishlist: there need to be ‘fine tune’ lugs added (top only) as the tension system cannot account for differences in head construction/etc. The tuning is ‘good enough’ but a purist’s ear may ask for more. (If this isn’t possible due to design, this is still an AMAZING drum, as is.) And while you’re at it, could you offer an add-on purchase option of a tension gauge, a la timpani tuning gauge, that measures the relative tension since there’s no way to ‘favorite or mark’ positions for repeat tune adjustments? Please. (in my perfect world)

Final thought, I genuinely cannot wait to see the future for this company. Full kits? Piccolo/soprano (side snare type options)? I’m excited!

Bought this thinking it would take awhile to come, a week and change later…it arrived. Just in time for a studio session and an upcoming show with my band Wild Planes. I tracked this with the demo head right out of the box and it sounded absolutely killer! Got the best sound out of this with just one moon gel. I’m legit blown away with what can be done with this snare. The Matte black looks great, the rim is big enough to get a crack and changing the head is easy peasy. Great concept! 💪

I wanted to ensure I was changing the head correctly and getting the best sound out of my snare. I didn’t want to mess up the snare and was getting used to using the dial instead of the lugs which I was used to.

I had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners in the Seattle area and they went through basic tuning and how I could get the best sound for my snare.

I was given several extra cables and a snare wire to try for free. Once you own a snare you are able to get discounts off of future gear and a lifetime warranty on their maker’s series snare.

Used my new dialtune drum for its first gigs this week and really amazed at its versatility- the ability to get a different tuning per tune is a real game changer. Not to be overlooked is that it also a great sounding drum, it’s not just the tuning components that make it great instrument.

I also run a college percussion program and will be trying to get one of these for the school - what kind of difference will it make in every rehearsal and performance to have a drum that is in tune even for the least experienced players? I think the effect will immeasurable for the whole program.

I’m a church drummer and I play a lot of contemporary music and gospel . And let me tell you Dialtune snare drum is the way to go hands down!!!Worth every penny . This snare drum tunes quick and stays tuned . I tuned up for the high energy songs and it sounded like a piccolo on steroids. I tuned it mid high and low and sounded full and beefy . And finally when it came down to a ballad I tuned it down and it sounded Fat and greasy! The sound guy was in shock that this snare drum was able to tune up and down so quickly . Last but not least the cross sticking sounded HUGE AND CLEAN!!! Overall this snare drum is A1 sauce!!!! Thank you Dialtune! You guys are AMAZING!!! I’ll be buying another one next year!

I bought the maple dial tune. It’s great but has an issue. It does not tune evenly no matter what new head I put on it. When I gently hold my finger in the head center and tap around the rim, there are slight variations in harmonic pitch no matter how high I pitch the tension. It’s not even all the way around. I think the rim is uneven. Help?

With a regular snare drum with tension rods, it would take me a few seconds to tap and tune the harmonics so that the drum is ready for the gig. I can’t seem to do this with this drum. I can change the tension overall but the slight unevenness in pitch across the head lingers at any tension setting. Is this a defective drum?
